The much-awaited trailer of Darbar starring Rajinikanth was released last night. Within minutes, it started to go viral in social media. Fans heaped laurels on the racy trailer. Filled with action, punchlines and peppy dance mumber featuring Rajinikanth, the trailer has become an instant hit.
Directed by A R Murugadoss and bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Darbar is all set for release this January. A cop thriller, the movie features Nayanthara as heroine. Rajinikanth appears as Commissioner of Mumbai Police Aditya Arunachalam. Sunil Shetty, Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babuy are also in the cast. Music is by Anirudh and cinematography is by Santosh Sivan.
Meanwhile the trailer was launched at a gala affair in Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion, Rajinikanth said, “We have tried to match Alex Pandian from ‘Moondru Mugam’. In ‘Darbar’, my challenge is to bring the energy in a character that got an underlying emotional and serious quotient.”
Asked about his dream role, he said, “I would like to play a transgender someday. I haven’t got such a character so far but directors like Murugadoss should come with exciting content.”
When asked the secret behind the energy in films at the age of 70, the actor in a lighter vein, said, “To be frank, money. They offering me a huge amount.”
