Chennai: A day after members of Periyar Dravida Kazhagam announced that they would lay siege to Rajinikanth’s house at Poes Garden on 23 January demanding an apology for his remarks on Periyar’s protest against Hindu beliefs, fans of the actor have dared them to hold the agitation.
They said that they would assemble in Poes Garden in large numbers if needed on the day. Members of a Dravidian outfit on Friday filed a complaint against Rajinikanth for his remarks about rationalist leader E V Ramasamy (Periyar).
The complaint alleged that Rajinikanth spread misinformation about Periyar with the intent to malign his reputation. They sought an unconditional apology from the actor or face a siege to his house on 23 January.
Meanwhile, fans of Rajinikanth posted in social media that they would assemble near Poes Garden and would take on the protestors. They said that Rajinikanth had never denigrated Periyar and a needless controversy has been cooked up.
