Chennai: While the number of Coronavirus suspect cases is increasing across the globe, Health Minister C Vijayabaskar stated that there are no cases reported in Tamilnadu and that the government is prepared to tackle the virus.
Addressing reporters this morning, he said, ”There has been no case detected in India so far and one person was reported with the microorganism in Nepal. Following which, the neighbouring countries are alerted to contain the risk of infection,” he said.
He further said that the Health department is continuing to screen travelers at Chennai Airport besides conducting symptomatic screening at the international terminals.
Reassuring people, he asked citizens not to panic due to the precautionary measures. Furthermore, a senior committee is monitoring the development and the isolation ward at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital is being checked on a regular basis.
