Delhi election defeat: Khushbu lashes out at Congress

Chennai: Following a crushing defeat for Congress in Delhi Assembly elections, actress and party spokesperson Khushbu Sundar expressed disappointment at the drubbing and said ‘it is the time to change ourselves and there is an urgent need to grow out of fears.’

Taking a dig at party leaders, Khushbu tweeted, ‘No time to retrospect. Enough of we doing that after every defeat. We don’t do the same after every win. Now is the time for action. Lets take it from #MahatmaGandhi and begin with ‘Be the change you want to see’. Congress lost deposit in 67 Assembly seats in the elections and drew a blank. AAP won 62 seats while BJP managed eight. Congress’ vote per centage also came down considerably.

Meanwhile, Delhi Mahila Congress chief and party spokesperson Sharmishtha Mukherjee, who is the daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee, lashed out at fellow party leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram who posted a tweet celebrating the defeat of BJP in Delhi Assembly elections. She said the Congress should be concerned about its own drubbing in Delhi.

‘AAP won, bluff and bluster lost. The people of Delhi, who are from all parts of India, have defeated the polarising, divisive and dangerous agenda of the BJP. I salute the people of Delhi who have set an example to other states that will hold their elections in 2021 and 2022,’ Chidambaram posted on Twitter.

She responded to the tweet saying, ‘With due respect sir, just want to know- has @INCIndia outsourced the task of defeating BJP to State parties? If not, then why r we gloating over AAP victory rather than being concerned abt our drubbing? And if ‘yes’, then we (PCCs) might as well close shop’.
