Chennai: The main opposition DMK staged a walkout from the Assembly today in an issue related to granting of dual citizenship to Sri Lankan Tamils.
The DMK legislators headed by Deputy Leader of Opposition Durai Murugan staged the walkout after Speaker P Dhanapal refused to take up a privilege motion against Minister K Pandiarajan. Dhanapal said that there was no breach of privilege in the statement made by the Minster about the dual citizenship.
The motion was brought by DMK’s Thangam Thennarasu against Pandiarajan’s statement that it is possible to get dual citizenship for Srilankan Tamils.
