US President Donald Trump is on a two-day visit to India from today. Both the countries are looking forward for the visit and its outcome.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India looks forward to welcomingTrump, who will arrive on his maiden visit to the country beginning 24 February.
‘India looks forward to welcoming @POTUS @realDonaldTrump. It is an honour that he will be with us tomorrow, starting with the historic programme in Ahmedabad,’ Modi wrote on Twitter.
He was responding to a tweet by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani that said ”entire Gujarat speaks in one voice- #NamasteTrump”.
Today, President Trump and Prime Minister Modi will take part in a 22-km roadshow from the Ahmedabad international airport. Then they will proceed for the ”Namaste Trump” event at the newly built Sardar Patel Stadium in the city’s Motera area, where over one lakh people are expected to be present. The US President will later fly down to Agra.
He would then depart for Delhi. Tomorrow, the US President and first lady Melania Trump will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. From there, they will go to Raj Ghat to pay homage at the ‘samadhi’ of Mahatma Gandhi.
It will be followed by restricted and delegation-level talks between Trump and Modi at Hyderabad House. Trump has said that he was looking forward to being with his ”great friends” in India as he retweeted a video in which his face was superimposed on the hit movie-character Bahubali, showing him as a great saviour.
Trump is in India at the invitation of Modi. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation including wife Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and a galaxy of top American officials.
”Look so forward to being with my great friends in INDIA!’ Trump tweeted.
Along with the tweet, Trump shared an 81-second video by a Twitter account identified as ‘Sol’ with the handle Solmemes1. ‘To celebrate Trump’s visit to India I wanted to make a video to show how in my warped mind it will go… USA and India united!’ the handle Solmemes1 tweeted in the original post with the video. Welcome Trump.
