Chennai: Rajinikanth’s advocate Ilam Bharathi today appeared on behalf of the actor before the one member commission which is probing the Thoothukudi violence.
The commission headed by former Judge Aruna Jagadeesan reportedly accepted Rajinikanth’s request to not to appear in person.
Following this the Commission handed over its questions to the advocate in a sealed cover. However, a few reports stated that the panel would issue a fresh summon to the superstar.
Rajinikanth recently requested exemption from personally appearing before the commission stating that it could cause inconvenience to the public and added that he would send a written response to the queries.
Aruna Jagadeesan had issued summons to Rajinikanth asking him to personally depose. Speaking to mediapersons after visiting Thoothukudi following the anti-Sterlite protests in May 2018, Rajinikanth said that he was aware of the involvement of ‘anti-social elements’ in the violence in which 13 people were killed.
