Chennai, Feb 29: Police officials have said that robbers from north India were involved in the SBI bank heist that took place at Tirupur on 24 February.
Sources said that a team of police personnel from Tirupur is in Delhi for investigation. A man was detained at the Delhi airport on 26 February on suspicion. The burglars had bent the window grill and gained entry into the bank. The heist came to light on Monday morning when the staff came to work, sources added.
It is said that the burglars had looted 500 sovereigns gold and Rs 18 lakh cash.
