Dindigul Thalappakatti honours working women

Chennai : Women do wonders everyday that includes domestic and professional works. But seldom they are appreciated. Dindigul Thalappakatti felicitated every day super women at an event held at its restaurant at Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar recently.

The award ceremony was conducted in the memory of founder Nagasamy Naidu’s wife Kannamal.  Martial artiste-cum-actress Ritika Singh felicitated the women achievers and the winners of super women contest chosen from various fields conducted by Thalappakatti.

The women achievers of this year were Archana Stalin, Tiyasha Vathul, Anannya and Roshini.  Archana Stalin, a farmer, after receiving the award said, ”Many people were amused to hear that I am a farmer. We mostly picture farmers with an old man covered with mud. But the truth is, about 82 per cent of farmers are women and we have never looked this fact.”

The youngest equestrian and junior national champion, Tiyasha Vathul said, ”People discouraged me because I am a girl. Listening to others’ words is not going to satisfy us.”

Roshini, the popular voice from many hit songs like Pottuthaku (Kuthu) and a Guiness record holder said, ”My superwoman is my mother. Without her support, I would not have reached up to this level.”

Fathima, an IT employee and the awardee is the youngest junior roller skating superstar who had bagged 100 medals that includes national level competitions.

Stella received outstanding woman entrepreneur award for her excellent vision for photography and videography. Kaviya, mother of a child who was battling cancer for eight months had to travel 80 kms everyday for her treatment. After receiving the award, she said, ”Your self confidence and hope is enough to reach heights.”

On felicitating them, Ritika Singh said, ‘Right from my childhood, people have been questioning my father about why he sent me for karate class when I was three. Many men have told me that I looked manly and my voice sounds like a man. All these complaints and discouragements will come and go. It is up to us to not react to any such comments.’
