Mohammed Asif Ali elected as CFA prez

Chennai, Mar 9: At the executive committee meeting of the Carnatic Family Association (CFA) held at Amir Mahal here recently, dewan to the Prince of Arcot,
Mohammed Asif Ali, was unanimously elected as the president of the association.

He succeeds late Nawab Jeelani Begum Saheba, who served as the president of the association until 2019, a press release said.

CFA was founded by family members of the erstwhile rulers, Nawabs of the Carnatic, to help the deserving members of the family, particularly in the field of education, sports, social and cultural activities.

The association distributes annual educational scholarships to deserving students of the Carnatic family to a tune of more than Rs 5 lakh to children from kindergarten to high school, students enrolled in arts, science and commerce, professional courses such as engineering and medical, ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 50,000, the release said.

The Prince of Arcot and patron-in-chief of the association, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, association patron Saheba Sayeeda Abdul Ali, former treasurer Dr G M Yahya, general secretary Ahmed Ali, joint secretary Mohammed Muneer and assistant secretary Mohammed Fazlullah were among those who participated.
