Chennai: In the wake of novel coronavirus, academic institutions are shut as part of preventive measures.

March being the most critical month in academic institutions towards completing all teaching processes before the students break for exams

in April, Rajalakshmi Engineering College is making available lectures of all subjects online for its students through a state-of-the-art lecture capture solution that has been installed in the campus.

The futuristic lecture capture solution which is completely AI driven help captures a lecture using high end cameras and microphone.

The core features of the solution also includes features like the automatic recording and distribution of classroom lectures, a platform for editing and viewing recorded or live-streamed lectures, a platform for consolidating relevant content and an app based student viewing system.

The students can view videos live or download videos for watching them offline using an app. The software also detects the user’s bandwidth in real time and adjusts the video quality accordingly.

The students would also have an option to ask questions, privately or publicly, the release said.

‘When the government directed the shutdown of educational institutions due to coronavirus outbreak, we thought of bridging the gap with virtual classes.

The feedback is very good and we hope to implement many more such novel initiatives in future,’ said college principal S N Murugesan.
