Chennai: Shops that violated the norms of social distancing have been asked to down shutters in Madurai and Chennai.
According to sources, a wholesale vegetable shop in Mattuthavani, Madurai was sealed for not following social distancing. In fact, the shop owners were given warnings by the civic body but they allegedly did not adhere to it.
Similarly, in T Nagar, a vegetable market was asked to close for not following rules and risking lives of customers. As many as 52 meat shops were also sealed by authorities. Officials said the shop owners will not be allowed to function for the next three months.
