Minor girl missing in Chennai

Chennai: A 15-year-old girl has been missing from her house from 1 April, it has emerged today. A student of class 8 in a private school at Chetpet, she had gone missing from Mangalapuram 12th Street at 6 am on that day.

She was wearing an orange churidhar. About five-feet, she has black eyes and black hair.It is said that on 31 March night the girl had a argument with her father as he had reprimanded her for not studying during the lockdown days.

The next day morning her mother saw her changing her clothes and stepping out the house. She assumed she was going to her neighbour’s house to watch television which she usually does.

In the afternoon, when the father went to pick her, it came to light that she had been missing from morning. The family searched the area for her and at night they went to the police station to file a complaint.However, the police asked them to come the next day, it is said. The family got in touch with an NGO for help.

An FIR was filed on 2 April and the police checked the girl’s phone and inquired with her friends. She was found in the visuals of a CCTV footage which the police were yet to follow up. It is alleged that the police were not taking the case seriously since they are focused on Covid-19.
