TN CM announces helplines for farmers facing difficulties

Chennai: In an effort to ensure that there is continuous supply of essentials to the public, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today announced that rent will not be collected for using government storage godowns till 30 April.

He said that the government will bear the expenses during this period.”Traders do not have to pay the one per cent shandy rent till 30 April. To ensure that people stay inside the houses during the lockdown, an additional 500 vehicles to sell vegetables and fruits at doorsteps will be deployed,” he added in a statement here.

He also said that government is ready to provide loans to companies that come forward to store vegetables and fruits.

Palaniswami also announced the phone numbers – 044 22253884, 22253885,22253496, 950001904, for farmers to reach out if they have any problem in selling the crops and vegetables. He said that the numbers can be reached between 10 am and 6 pm.
