Actor Boopathy hospitalised for consuming sleeping pills

Chennai: Actor and singer Boopathy (64), son of veteran actress Manorama, consumed sleep inducing tablets last night and was rushed to a hospital this morning. His condition is said to be stable.

According to police sources, the actor takes sleeping pills given on prescription by a doctor. However, last night, he took a few extra pills to induce sleep. This morning, his son, a doctor, found him unresponsive and rushed him to a private hospital at Thousand Lights.

Sources said, Boopathy has regained consciousness and is said to be stable. He is a resident of Neelakanda Mehta Street, T Nagar. Famed actor Manorama had passed away in 2015.
