Chennai: Cases have been filed by Tamilnadu police on 66 Islamic religious preachers and 11 of them were arrested for breaching Section 144 imposed in the State.
Police said, they were found travelling across the State for preaching activities. They were from places such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and Thailand.
It may be noted that the police have laid stringent measures to ensure that no one steps out of their houses as the State is battling coronavirus pandemic and is under lockdown.
According to a press release from the DGP’s office, the number of violations under lockdown is 1,14,832 and 1,24,657 persons have been arrested. The police have seized 97,146 vehicles from violators. A whopping, Rs 38,54,144 has been collected as fines.
