Chennai: With Wuhan and New York turning the hub of coronavirus in China and United States, respectively, Chennai is apparently becoming one in Tamilnadu, if one is to go by the hike in the number of Covid-19 cases.
A bulletin issued by the Health and Family Welfare department on Sunday evening said of the 105 cases, Chennai registered a maximum of 50 cases, followed by Thanjavur (10), Villupuram (7), Cuddalore (6), Tiruvarur, Coimbatore, Dindugul (5 each), Tenkasi (4), Nagapattinam and Chengalpattu (3 each), Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli and Madurai (two each) and Kancheepuram (one).
It said of the 40,876 samples tested, including, 5,840 today, 31,853 tested negative, 1477 positive and 2,411 were under process. A total of 85,253 patients have completed 28 days of quarantine period.
Chennai continued to remain on the top of the chart with 285 cases, followed by Coimbatore (133), Tiruppur (108), Erode (70), Dindigul (74), Tirunelveli (62), Chengalpattu (53) and Namakkal (50) and Trichy, Tiruvallur, Madurai and Thanjavur (46 each) and Theni (43).
In all 40,876 samples were tested till date and 21,381 patients were under active Home Quarantine, 20 in Government quarantine centres, while 1,987 were in isolation wards.
