Chennai: A surgeon who was tested positive for Covid-19 died in Chennai on Sunday, taking the total number of deaths in Tamilnadu to 16.
The neurosurgeon was admitted to a private hospital. His daughter, who was also admitted to the hospital after she was confirmed with coronavirus, is stable, sources said.
Meanwhile, in a first, two Chennai-based journalists and one police personnel were confirmed to have contracted the infection. Three doctors also tested positive in the city, health department officials said on Sunday.
Though there was no media briefing on Sunday, a bulletin was issued by the government last evening and it said all the cases were ‘contact cases’ of some kind.
However, there was no mention about whether the cases reported on Sunday were related to the ‘single source event’- Tablighi Jamaat conference held in Delhi last month.
