Chennai: Following the death of a woman, who is the mother of a priest of Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai due to coronavirus, all the family members of the priest were tested for corona and isolated.
The lab reports were awaited. Around 54 police personnel, 40 priests and 50 temple staffs were also screened for the virus.
The district authorities disinfected the Temple, which was brought under the containment zone as a precautionary measures. The total number of coronavirus cases in Tamilnadu rose to 1,683 with 54 fresh cases reported on Thursday.
The Covid-19 cases have been reported in 37 of the 38 districts in Tamilnadu. The Krishnagiri district has not reported any virus case till date.
Chennai. with its dense population, continued to remain on the top of the chart with 400 cases, followed by Coimbatore (134), Tiruppur (110), Dindigul (80), Erode (70), Tirunelveli (63), Chengalpattu (57), Thanjavur and Namakkal (55 each), Madurai (52), Tiruchirapalli (51) and Tiruvallur (50).
