Corona targets kids: 7 affected persons are below 10 years

Chennai: Among those tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday were seven children below 10 years of age, including a three year old girl child in Villupuram.

Infants including new-borns too are affected by Covid-19 in the State and doctors have urged people, especially those who have children at home, to stay doubly safe.

Of the 3,023 cases in Tamilnadu, 2,015 were men, 1,007 women and a transperson. This included 170 in 0-12 age group (88 male/82 female), 2,564 in 13-60 age group (1,732/831 & Transgender-1) and 289 above 60 years of age (195/94).

A total number of 38 people, who have tested positive, were Sunday discharged, as the number of cured patients increased to 1,379.

Chennai, which has emerged as the corona hotspot topped the list with 1,458 cases, followed by Coimbatore (146), Tiruppur (114), Chengalpattu (93), Madurai (90), Villuppuram (86), Dindigul (81), Erode/Tiruvallur (70 each), Tirunelveli (63), Namakkal (61), Thanjavur (57) and Trichy (51).
