Chennai: As part of the nation-wide exercise by the Defence services to express their gratitude to frontline staff involved in tackling the coronavirus spread, an IAF helicopter Sunday showered petals on the government hospitals in the city to salute their services.
The helicopters carried out a fly past over the Omandurar Multi Super Speciality Hospital and at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) and showered rose petals to salute the doctors, nurses and all other healthcare workers on Covid-19 duty.
As the IAF helicopters showered petal, the frontline staff including doctors, nurses and conservancy staff stood at the hospital campus by maintaining social distancing and were glued to the skies as rose petals were showered as a mark of salute for their selfless service.
The Corona warriors reciprocated the aerial salute by applauding and clapping their hands.”It was an emotional moment and a big honour for all of us to get the military salute”, RGGGH Dean Dr Jayanthi Rangarajan said.
While the Navy presented a memento, the armed forces gave a gift hamper with sweets to the corona warriors. She also expressed her heartfelt condolences to the brave hearts who sacrificed their lives during anti-militancy operations in Kashmir Saturday night.
