Chennai: The Madras High Court today issued an interm stay order against collecting power consumption charges from households and micro and small enterprises in Tamilnadu.
Issuing a direction in this regard to Tamilnadu Electricity Board, the court wanted it to give two months time to consumers to pay electricity bills.
The court also directed the State government and TANGEDCO to file their reply by 18 May. The order was passed when a plea by one Rajasekar came up for hearing before the High Court.
In his petition, Rajasekar requested the Court to direct TANGEDCO not to collect electricity charges since the lockdown due to Covid-19 has been extended.
