TN discusses ways with experts to conduct college exams

K P Anbalagan

Chennai: Tamilnadu Higher Education Minister K P Anbalagan today discussed with top officials and experts of his department on ways to conduct the college and university exams.

The discussions have come at a time when the exams have been delayed due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown. According to sources, the Minister discussed about conducting exams by following UGC guidelines.

On Monday, Anbalagan had said the State government will not accept the Institute of Eminence (IoE) status to Anna University, if the Central government refuses to allow the 69 per cent reservation system.

The Minister’s comments came at a time when the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development’s deadline to the varsity to submit the letter of commitment by 31 May has ended.

Earlier, university officials had urged the government to provide a letter assuring to grant its share of funds, which would help the institution receive Rs 1,000 crore and more autonomy, in addition to the IoE tag.

The letter would require the Tamilnadu government to assure providing its share of funds for IoE status.
