Chennai: Tamilnadu government today said that sales fee should not be charged against farmers who sell their produce in markets.
An ordinance was promulgated by Governor Banwarilal Purohit to amend the Tamilnadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987.
As per the new guidelines farmers can sell their yield from any recognised godowns and private shandys.
“They can directly sell their products in their farm or to any recognised dealers,” the odninace added.
Due to the new ordinance the tenure of the special officers in agricultural sector has been extended for six months after 29 June 2020.
