Chennai: The birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was a low key affair today, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This morning, DMK president M K Stalin visited the leader’s memorial at Marina and offered tributes.
He was accompanied by senior leaders including Durai Murugan and T R Baalu. In a statement earlier, Stalin asked the party cadre to observe the day by distributing masks, sanitizers, groceries and other essential items to poor people.
The Leader of Opposition urged the party functionaries to provide food to guest workers, their families and others who are in need of money.
“When he was active, Karunanidhi spent his time for the sake of Tamilnadu and its people. DMK has been actively providing relief to people who have been affected by the lockdown. The same must continue on June 3 also in memory of our leader,” added Stalin.
