Chennai to cross 20,000 mark, 7 zones have more than 1,000 Covid cases each

Chennai: All 15 zones of Greater Chennai Corporation are hit by coronavirus with thousand-odd cases being reported from seven zones. More Covid-19 cases and more fatalities are reported in various parts of the metropolis today.

The least affected neighbourhood Manali has 274 patients. A press release from the Greater Chennai City Corporation shows an area-wise break up of Covid-19 figures. Till now, the city has recorded 19,826 cases since the lockdown. Aggressive testing is said to be reason for the spike in cases.

Royapuram, which is badly hit, has 3,552 cases, followed by Tondiarpet, where the virus has been spreading fast. There are 2,470 persons with the viral infection here. Teynampet, one of the areas where the virus out-break began, has 2,245 cases.

Kodambakkam, another red zone area, has 2,202 cases. Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, which is a containment zone, has hit a mark of 1,958 cases.

In Anna Nagar, 1,784 have tested positive for the viral infection. Upscale neighbour of Adyar has 1,094 cases of Covid-19.

There are a total of 996 Covid positive persons in Valsaravakkam, 733 cases in Ambattur and 731 patients in Thiruvottiyur. There are 536 patients in Madhavaram, 314 in Alandur, 365 in Perungudi and 362 in Shollinganallur.
