Chennai: The Tamilnadu government today appointed 2,000 nurses to take care of Covid-19 patients in Chennai and its neighbouring districts of Thiruvallur, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram.
Speaking to the media here, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said these nurses are being appointed on temporary basis for six months. It is to be noted that the above regions are worst hit by Covid-19 in the State.
“There won’t be any shortage of healthcare staff,” the Minister said and added that the Tamilnadu government is doing more tests than Maharashtra, which is the worst affected State in the country.
“Only because we are conducting more number of tests, we are able to find out more infections,” he added. His remarks have come at a time when the State’s Covid-19 patients count crossed 40,000.
