Martyr Pazhani’s mortal remains to reach Madurai by flight

Chennai: The mortal remains of solider Pazhani, who lost his life during the violent face-off between India and China forces, will reach Madurai by flight this evening.

According to sources, the flight carrying Pazhani’s body will reach Madurai around 6.30 pm. From there, it will be taken to his native place where top officials will pay tributes.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday announced a solatium of Rs 20 lakh to the family of army jawan Pazhani from Ramanathapuram district, who was among the Indian armymen killed in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.

It was only a few days prior to his killing along the India-China border that K Pazhani, a solider from Tamilnadu, was dearly missed at home.

For, he could not attend his housewarming ceremony on June 3, as he had to guard the motherland. The soldier had visited him home at Kadukkaliyur in the southern district of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu in January this year.

He had made plans to return for the family’s housewarming ceremony, but in a call in the first week of June, changed his plans.

“We are being moved (to the border), so you won’t be able to reach me… don’t worry,” Pazhani, 40, had told his wife Vanathidevi, 33, over phone on 1 June.
