Chennai: While the police, who traced the hoax call claiming a bomb would explode at actor Rajinikanth’s house, to that of a juvenile at Cuddalore and let him off with a warning to his parents, fans of the superstar reached out to the family in a novel way.
Office-bearers of Rajini Makkal Mandram in Cuddalore district called on the boy and his family at their house and presented them relief materials to help them tide over the Covid-19 induced crisis.
The boy’s father tendered an apology to Rajinikanth and thanked his fans. Police said the 15-year-old boy was picked up for making the hoax call Thursday and was let off as he was said to be mentally unsound.
He was a class eight student at Nellikuppam in Cuddalore. Following the anonymous call, polcie along with sniffer dogs and bomb detection and disposal squad personnel made a thorough search, but no explosives were found.
