Chennai: Officials from fair price shops have started distributing Rs 1,000 for ration card holders in four districts where complete lockdown has been implemented.
The staffs are going door to door and distributing the money along with a four page pamphlet about precaution against coronavirus.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently announced that all rice-drawing ration card holders in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts will receive a monetary relief of Rs 1,000 amid the lockdown.
Complete lockdown has been implemented in these districts from 19 to 30 June to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
