Chennai: The State police are tightening their grip over lockdown violators by filing FIRs against nearly 7.35 lakh persons.
A press release from the DGP’s office said that 6,73,741 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts and the Tamilnadu police arrested as many as 7,34,306 persons for defying norms of curfew.
The restrictions have been imposed across the State to curb the spread of Coronavirus since 24 March.
As many as 5,45,763 vehicles were seized from these persons. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 15,44,18,285 has been collected from violators as fine since March.
