Chennai: Judges of the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court today reached out to Sathankulam Head Constable Revathy, who has come forward to speak against her colleagues in the custodial torture case, over phone.
The Judges, during their interaction with Revathy, assured her that the safety of her and her family members would be taken care of. They have also directed her superiors to grant her a month’s leave with salary.
After Head Constable Revathy came forward to reveal what happened on that fateful night when Sathankulam trader Jayaraj and his son Benix were ‘brutally assaulted’ in police station, two more police personnel too have come forward to turn approver in the sensational case.
According to sources, a Special Sub-Inspector and a Constable have turned approvers and they would give a statement before the court soon.
The CB-CID police booked Inspector Sridhar, two SIs Raghu Ganesh and Balakrishnan and two constables Murugan and Muthuraj under three Sections, including 302 and 301 of the IPC.
Subsequently, the CB-CID police arrested Raghu Ganesh last night. After preliminary investigations, he was produced before Thoothukudi Chief Judicial Magistrate S.Hema, who remanded him to judicial custody till 16 July. Later, Raghu Ganesh was lodged at Perurani sub jail.
