Covid-19: India records highest single-day spike of 20,903 cases

New Delhi: As days goes on, there seems to be no respite from coronavirus in India, if has to go by the reports.

According to Union Health Ministry data released this morning, the country saw its biggest single-day spike of 20,903 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases stands at 6,25,544.

The covid-19 death toll has climbed to 18,213 with 379 new fatalities. The number of recoveries stands at 3,79,891. There are 2,27,439 active cases of coronavirus infections presently in the country, the report said.

Maharashtra, which is the worst-affected State in India, now has over 1,86,000 coronavirus cases with 8,178 people dead.

Tamilnadu, which is the second worst-affected state after Maharashtra, has recorded 98,000 coronavirus cases while the death toll is at 1,321.

Of the 379 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 125 are from Maharashtra, 61 from Delhi, 57 from Tamilnadu, 19 each from Gujarat and Karnataka, 17 from Uttar Pradesh, 16 from West Bengal, 11 from Haryana, 10 from Jammu and Kashmir, nine from Rajasthan, eight each from Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, seven from Bihar, five from Andhra Pradesh, three from Punjab, two from Puducherry and one each from Kerala and Uttarakhand.
