TN extends deadline for people to get free essentials from ration shops

Chennai: The Tamilnadu government today extended the time to get products from fair price shops for the month of June.

A circular said that people in complete lockdown places who did not get provisions from the fair price shops for June can gey it till 10 July.

It may be noted that officials from fair price shops recently distributed Rs 1,000 for ration card holders in four districts where complete lockdown has been implemented.

The staffs were going door to door and distributed the money along with a four page pamphlet about precaution against coronavirus.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently announced that all rice-drawing ration card holders in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts will receive a monetary relief of Rs 1,000 amid the lockdown. Complete lockdown was implemented in these districts from 19 to 30 June to prevent the spread of Covid-19. It was then extended to Madurai and Theni districts.
