Chennai: The five-member high level committee of the ruling AIADMK held a crucial meeting about making changes in the ranks of the party.
The committee which includes Ministers Thangamani and Velumani and senior leaders Vaithilingam, K P Munuswami and Natham Viswanathan discussed for about four hours at the party headquarters in Royapettah.
Sources said that the discussion was focussed on about appointing news district secretaries and was done following instructions from Chief Minister Edapadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who are joint coordinator and the coordinator of the party, respectively.
With the Assembly elections expected to be announced in eight months, the committee also discussed about strategies that should be followed during the election time. It may be noted that recently the district secretaries of the party were asked to create a wardwise list of members for the party’s IT wing .
It is said that the committee focussed about strengthening the party at root level and making peace with dissent cadres.
