Chennai: A Central team of officials led by Additional Secretary from the Union Ministry of Health, Arti Ahuja, which assessed Tamilnadu’s Covid-19 containment strategy’s success on the ground, will send a report to the Union government soon.
On Thursday, the central team monitored the pandemic situation in Chennai. The Central team, which includes Rajendra Ratnoo, government of India’s monitoring officer for Tamilnadu, visited the exclusive Covid-19 hospital at the Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital at Omandurar estate in Chennai.
The five-member team later held discussions with the Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner G Prakash and other officials.
In terms of total cases, Chennai has the highest number at 73,728, followed by Chengalpattu (7,386), Tiruvallur (5,877) and Madurai (5,299).
Tamilnadu recorded a spike in the new number of coronavirus cases and crossed the 4,000-mark on Thursday (July 9). The State recorded 4,231 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 1,26,581. Tamilnadu has 46,652 active cases of Covid-19.
