Chennai: Heavy rainfall has been predicted for 10 districts of Tamilnadu over the next 24 hours.
According to Regional Meterological Centre (RMC) in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Theni will receive heavy rainfall. Dindigul, Coimbatore and Nilgiris will receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
Chennai will observe cloudy skies along with thunderstorms. RMC said 39 per cent more rainfall has been recorded this year during the southwest monsoon. It added that the state has been receiving good rainfall due to thunderstorms.
The thundershowers from Friday morning brought over 10 cms rainfall in a few suburbs near Chennai, according to Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikkaalam weather blog.
“Heavy Overnight #Rains lash many areas of #Chennai with few places recording 10 cms. Cloudy skies could keep temp under check today across #TamilNadu which could possibly influence development of #thunderstorms today though models indicate another rainy day for the state #COMK,” it tweeted.
