Chennai: Chennai is showing a dramatic spike in the recovery of Covid-19 cases and an overall decline in the number of infections.
Currently, the active cases stand at 17,469 (23 per cent) and nearly, 58,615 (76 per cent) persons have recovered from the viral infection. Only one placee in the city has more than 2,000 coronavirus cases. The death toll stands at 1,253 , that is 1.62 per cent.
Kodambakkam has turned into the largest containment zone with 2,497 cases and Anna Nagar has 1,849 patients testing positive.
Teynampet has close to 1,651 cases and Royapuram, which had the highest positive patients, now has 1,290 cases.
Another hotspot, Tondirapet currently has 1,331 cases. Royapuram is showing an impressive recovery rate with 8,164 persons overcoming the viral infection.
Teynampet has the highest death rate with 188 causalities, followed by Tondiarpet with 174 deaths.
