Kerala gold scam: NIA questions top IAS officer

M Sivasankar

Thiruvananthapuram: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigating the sensational Kerala gold scam case today resumed interrogation of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s former Principal Secretary and former IT Secretary M Sivasankar, at its Kochi office.

Sivasankar started from Thiruvananthapuram by 4 am and reached the NIA office by 9.30 am for the interrogation session scheduled for 10 am. If the agency arrests him, the ruling front will have to do a lot of explaining to its cadre.

The NIA had summoned Sivasankar to its Kochi office as it wanted to get more details from him. He has been maintaining that he was not aware of the links Swapna Suresh, Sandeep Nair and Sarith P S had with gold smuggling and their underhand deals.

Senior officials from Hyderabad reached Kochi and prepared a questionnaire. If Sivasankaran’s role in the case is proved or if he confesses to the crime, he is likely to be arrested.
