Chennai: A war of words is happening on social media between DMK and BJP supporters over Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam legislator Ku Ka Selvam meeting Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.
DMK supporters criticised the BJP of trying to enter into the Tamilnadu Assemly through backdoor. They also said the ‘saffron party’ would taste defeat if it tries Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan models in Tamilnadu, which is ‘Dravidian’ land. Some DMK sympathisers slammed Selvam and said the party leadership should take action against him.
BJP supporters were all smiles over the development, for Selvam’s capital visit came just weeks after DMK senior leader V P Duraisamy joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. They teased the DMK supporters by saying more Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders are waiting to join the BJP.
Meanwhile, DMK sources said their leadership is taking note of the developments. Selvam’s meeting with Nadda came just a day after DMK president M K Stalin spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone about ‘reservation’.
Selvam, who represents the Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai, said he met Union Minister Piyush Goyal seeking two elevators at Nungambakkam railway station, and followed by a meeting with Nadda.
He has openly urged DMK president MK Stalin to sever ties with the Congress as its leader Rahul Gandhi has been ceaselessly finding faults with Prime Minister Modi.
He praised Modi for his governance and wished him for his efforts to construct Ram temple at Ayodhya. He said Stalin should hold an internal party election and demanded that Stalin condemn the act of people who demeaned the holy hymn Kantha Sashti Kavasam.
