Modi’s policies cost 14 crore jobs: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to generate two crore jobs every year but his policies had instead cost up to 14 crore people their livelihoods.

Launching the ‘Rozgar Do’ (provide employment) campaign, he attacked Modi’s track record on generating employment.

“When Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, he promised the youth of this country that he would give employment to two crore people every year. He sold a dream, but the truth is 14 crore people have been made jobless by his policies,” he said in a video message delivered on Twitter on the occasion of the 60th founding year of the Indian Youth Congress.

Today, he stepped up his attack on the Centre over the draft environment impact assessment (EIA), saying it must be withdrawn to stop ‘environmental destruction’.

Rahul alleged that the aim of EIA 2020 draft was clear — ‘loot of the nation’. “This (EIA) is another dreadful example of what the BJP government has been doing for its select suit-boot ‘friends’ who loot the resources of the country,” Rahul alleged.

“EIA 2020 draft must be withdrawn to stop #LootOfTheNation and environmental destruction,” he tweeted.
