Chennai: The lives lost of Covid-19 in Chennai have hit the mark of 2,638. The city has recorded as many as 1,19,247 cases of coronavirus since March.
Currently, there are 13,517 persons under treatment for Covid-19, which account for 10 per cent.
The number of recovered cases is 1,13,092 and the recovery rate is at 87 per cent. The death rate is 2.04 per cent with 2,638 persons succumbing to the viral infection.
As part of rapid testing, on 21 August, as many as 13,340 persons were tested for Coronavirus. The Greater Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have Covid-19.
According to the data, in Kodambakkam, nearly 1,579 persons have the disease, Anna Nagar, a containment zone has 1,533 persons contracting the virus, Ambattur has 1,267 persons testing positive. At least 1,277 persons in Adyar have the virus and 1,041 persons in Valsaravakkam have tested positive.
The least number of active cases is in Manali with 173 testing positive. In Kodambakkam, as many as 12,981 persons have recovered and the most number of lives were claimed in Teynampet with 378 persons succumbing to the virus.
The pandemic has affected more men than women, as per data, 60.06 per cent of the patients are male and 39.94 per cent are female.
Around 18.59 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years.
