Chennai: As the government is gearing up for unlock 4.0, the State police continue being tough with violators of lockdown rules. The Tamilnadu police have booked nearly 9,95,255 persons for violating norms of lockdown.
Since 24 March, in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 and to enforce social distancing, the State police have been arresting those who ventured out during curfew.
Close to 8,98,691 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts and FIRs have been registered against them, a press release from DGP’s office said today.
As many as 6,93,822 vehicles were seized from these persons. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 21,68,78,113 has been collected from violators as fines, the release added.
