Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today conveyed their Teachers Day wishes.
The Governor said, “Every year, the birth anniversary of noted philosopher, educationist and former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers’ Day across the country.”
“Education transforms a human being into a wholesome whole, a noble soul and an asset to the universe. Universal brotherhood in its true sense becomes the sheet anchor for such education. Real education enhances the dignity of a human being and increases his or her self-respect. Teachers have a very important role to play in this context. Teachers have to be noble and they should love teaching. These two traits will enhance the quality of education,” he said.
In a statement, Palaniswami said,”Apart from providing knowledge to students, who are the pillars of our country, teachers also teach the youngsters about discipline, self confidence, hard work and ethics.”
He said that teachers are always compared to God as they give knowledge to the students.
He also mentioned that to encourage teachers, the State government is giving various awards including the Dr Radhakrishnan Award and Dream teacher award.
