Chennai: Putting an end to doubts over whether and how final year exams would be conducted in the State, universities in Tamilnadu decided to conduct the final year exams online in view of Covid-19.
In a circular, Chief Secretary to the government, K Shanmugam said that the Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the conduct of the examinations through online, offline or a combination of online and offline modes.
The circular stated that all educational institutions will have to take prior approval of the government before conducting the exams owing to the pandemic.
Anna University will conduct the exams from 22 to 29 September. Exams for Alagappa University students began on Tuesday, while the University of Madras and Bharathidasan University will hold exams from 21 to 25 September.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and Annamalai University will conduct exams from 21 to 30 September. Periyar University has scheduled exams from 21 to 29.
Madurai Kamaraj University has scheduled exams from 17 to 30 September. Bharathiar University’s exams will be held from 21 September to 7 October.
Tamilnadu Open University students will conduct exams from 19 to 30 September and Thiruvalluar University students will from 16 to 29 September.
While students of the Tamilnadu Teacher Education University will take their exams from 17 to 29 September, the DoTE will conduct its exams from 23 to 29 September.
