Chennai: For the first time since the lockdown, the coronavirus cases are below the count of 10,000 and only one neighbourhood in the city has more than 1,000 cases.
This morning, the number of active cases in the city was 9,883, yesterday, it was 10,393.
According to data compiled by the Chennai Corporation, the city has recorded 1,50,572 of which 1,37,685 have recovered. The death toll in the city has reached 3,004.
The recovery rate is at 91 per cent, the active cases are at 7 per cent and the death toll rate is at two per cent.
The highest number of lives were claimed in Teynampet with 402 persons succumbing to the virus. The second highest casualty rate is in Anna Nagar with 337 lives being claimed by the viral infection.
As part of rapid testing, on 15 September, as many as 12,310 persons were tested for coronavirus.
