Chennai: After intense discussions over a number of issues concerning the reorganisation of the ruling AIADMK, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, the joint coordinator and coordinator of the ruling AIADMK, have called for the party’s executive committee meeting on 28 September.
The meeting will be chaired by AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan. The invitation will be sent to individuals for participation.
On Friday evening, Palaniswami and Panneerselvam attended a high-level meeting in Chennai amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting was convened by Panneerselvam to review the political development in the state. It was attended by the top leaders of AIADMK.
The meeting assumed importance as it was for the first time that Palaniswami and Panneerselvam visited the AIADMK office after the eruption of the debate between their respective camps over the AIADMK’s chief ministerial candidate for the 2021 Assembly election.
Ahead of the meeting, as Panneerselvam and Palaniswami arrived at the headquarters, their supporters raised slogans hailing them as the ‘heir of Jayalalithaa’ and ‘permanent CM’, respectively.
