After high drama, 8 MPs end dharna

New Delhi: The group of eight suspended Rajya Sabha MPs today ended their dharna on the lawns of Parliament after an Opposition walkout, and a rejected offer of tea and snacks.

The group of MPs belonging to different parties camped on the lawns overnight and slept on sheets and pillows spread on the grass.

The Opposition will be boycotting rest of the Monsoon Session of Rajya Sabha till the time three of their demands are met, which includes revoking the suspension of the 8 MPs. Several Opposition MPs staged a walkout in Rajya Sabha after Chairperson Venkaiah Naidu refused to meet their demands.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the opposition will boycott the proceedings of the House till the suspension of eight members is revoked.

Speaking after the Zero Hour, Azad also demanded that the government brings a bill which should ensure private players don’t procure food grains below the minimum support price (MSP) fixed by the government.
