Dubai: Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer said that Ravichandran Ashwin is hopeful of recovering from a shoulder injury before the side’s next IPL game, but added that the team physiotherapist would take a call on the off-spinner’s availability.
Making his debut for Delhi against his former franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Ashwin got two wickets in his first over before hurting his shoulder. ‘Ispoke to Ashwin briefly and he said that he will be available for the next game. But, at the end of the day, it is the physio’s decision, said Iyer in the post-match presentation ceremony. He is a strong-minded guy. Hopefully, he will be available, added Iyer.
Ashwin sent Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran back to the pavilion in the final over of the powerplay, but could play no further part in what was an exciting match.
