Security increased to Palaniswami after intel alert on ‘enhanced’ threat

Chennai: Following an intelligence alert about enhanced threat to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami from fundamentalists, Tamil chauvinists and disgruntled elements, security being given to him has been increased.

Reports said, as soon as the input was received late on Sunday, security has been stepped up.

Palaniswami is protected by a ‘Z-Plus’ scale of security, which is handled by the core cell of the Security Branch CID and the local police.

The stepping up of security has come at a time when the ruling AIADMK’s executive committee meet is scheduled to be held today.

In May this year, traffic police arrested two young men who breached Palaniswami’s security convoy on Wednesday.
